Akron, Ohio — March 31, 2004 —
More Than Gourmet has created a
completely new packaging format for its line of 14 Classic French stocks
and sauces with more attractive graphics that will increase their
shelf-appeal to gourmet shoppers.
The new format, which includes
upgraded, more elegant gourmet food photography, allows consumers to
visibly see far more information than previous label designs from the
company. The new system, applied to the company's 1.5 oz. product lines,
is ready for shipment to gourmet retailers immediately.
"While previously our labels
contained only ingredient and preparation instructions, consumers will now
be able to see that and much more, including beautiful, five-star
photography, nutritional information, recipe ideas and product
descriptions," explained More Than Gourmet CEO Brad Sacks. "In
addition, because of the design of the packaging, for the first time, much
of this consumer information will actually face the shopper, rather than
requiring they pick up the item."
The packaging is based on a system
of individual sleeves that encircle the existing round containers. Twelve
1.5 oz. sleeves are shipped to gourmet stores in full color display boxes,
which are removed from shipping cartons directly to grocery shelves or
meat department countertops. As individual containers are removed from the
display boxes, the containers remain standing and do not fall over, making
a more attractive shelf presentation for retailers even when not fully
stocked.
The new packaging is part of a
series of capital and marketing investments More Than Gourmet is making
that includes construction of a completely new production facility and
research kitchens at its Ohio corporate headquarters. The cutting edge
facility is a combination of the best of the old world with 21st century
food processing technology. All More Than Gourmet products meet the
highest level of culinary standards and are produced under USDA inspection
(Est. 27446 M & P) and FDA certification. Its HACCP program, SSOPs,
and Quality Control systems assure the highest levels of quality and food
safety. In addition, More Than Gourmet is one of the few facilities to be
certified by the European Union and is also an approved supplier of the
USDA Beef Export Verification Program, providing a global level of quality
assurance that few facilities are able to achieve.
The new facility enhances the
company's position as the only company with the classical background and
technical ability to produce shelf stable high quality products without
chemicals preservatives or other unwanted ingredients.
Beyond facility investments,
almost three years ago, the company established its own sales and
distribution center in the Netherlands, servicing all of Europe, and this
past year added distributors in Japan to serve customers throughout Asia.
Founded in 1993, More Than Gourmet
creates products for both the home gourmet and professional markets made
