Best Barbecue Sauce
Description
A rich, tangy sauce perfect for brushing on a slab of ribs or smoked pork chops. Get out the grill!Ingredients
Makes
About 2 1/2 cups
- 1 1/2 ounces Demi-Glace Gold®
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1 cup ketchup
- 6 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup (packed) light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne, or to taste
- Salt
- Ground black pepper
Methods/steps
- In a small saucepan, bring the water to a low simmer and whisk in the Demi-Glace Gold® with until dissolved. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, heat the oil, add the garlic and onion, and cook until the vegetables are soft, about 2 minutes.
- Add the demi-glace and the next seven ingredients, whisking to blend them together well, then bring the sauce to a simmer over low heat. Cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper.

Additional Tips
The sauce is even better if you make it 2-3 days before you use it, so the flavors blend and develop. Store the sauce covered in the refrigerator.
