Quick Port Wine Sauce

Description

The mellow sweetness of port blends with the flavors of red wine and savory shallots to make this sauce a beautiful complement to a seared steak with blue cheese, a roast beef or pork tenderloin, leg of lamb, or a thick smoked pork chop.

Methods/steps

  1. In a medium saucepan sauté the shallots in the olive oil over medium heat until they are lightly browned.
  2. Stir in the Port wine, scraping to loosen any browned cooking bits from the pan, and simmer for 5 minutes to reduce slightly.
  3. Reduce the heat to  medium-low, add the More Than Gourmet Red Wine Sauce, and simmer for a few more minutes, until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
  4. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Additional Tips

Serve this sauce over veal, beef, lamb or pork.
