Roast Beef Sandwich Au Jus

Description

A simple, classic sandwich with a tasty dipping sauce great for lunch or supper on a busy night.

Ingredients

1 loaf (12 ounces) good Italian bread
1 pound leftover or quality deli roast beef, sliced thin
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 1/2 cups More Than Gourmet Ready-to-Use Beef Stock (or use a generous tablespoon of Glace de Viande Gold® dissolved in 1 1/2 cups hot water)
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Methods/steps

  1. Preheat the oven to broil.  Cut the bread loaf in half horizontally, place the halves on a baking sheet cut side up, and toast them in the oven until light brown, 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Spread the horseradish on the bottom half of the loaf, then layer on the roast beef.
  3. Mix the stock and Worcestershire sauce in small bowl to form the au jus. Baste the top half of bread with 1/4 cup au jus. Place top half of the bread over the roast beef to complete sandwich. Cut the sandwich in quarters and serve with the remaining au jus for dipping.
