This traditional Southern way of cooking fresh green beans is one of our favorites. They're slowly simmered in our flavorful chicken broth, along with bacon, onion, garlic, and a pinch of red pepper flakes, until they're tender and infused with great flavor.

Ingredients
-
6 slices bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces
-
1 medium onion, diced
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
Pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste
-
2 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
-
2 cups water
-
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Kitchen Accomplice Chicken Broth Concentrate or 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons Kitchen Accomplice Organic Chicken Bone Broth Concentrate
-
Salt and ground black pepper
Methods/Steps
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until some fat is rendered, about 5 minutes. Add the onion, and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook 1 minute more.
Add the fresh green beans, water, and Kitchen Accomplice Chicken Broth Concentrate or Chicken Bone Broth Concentrate, stirring until the concentrate dissolves. Season with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat to low, partially cover the pan, and simmer until the beans are tender, but not mushy, 20-30 minutes. Taste and season as needed with more salt and pepper.
