A favorite of kids of all ages, this sandwich made with flavorful meat sauce ladled over a toasted bun started appearing on American lunch counters and dinner tables during the Great Depression. It's still popular, and never better than when the Sloppy Joes are made from scratch with the best ground beef and Kitchen Accomplice.
Place skillet over medium heat and add vegetable oil. Stir in the onion and green pepper and cook until the vegetables soften, 5-6 minutes. Add garlic and cook another minute. Add beef, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned, 7-10 minutes.
