Ingredients
-
1 1/2 ounces Demi-Glace Gold® orDemi-Glace de Veau Gold®*
-
2 tablespoons canola oil
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/4 cup minced onion
-
1 cup ketchup
-
6 tablespoons tomato paste
-
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
-
1/4 cup (packed) light brown sugar
-
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon dry mustard
-
1/4 teaspoon cayenne, or to taste
-
Salt
-
Ground black pepper
Methods/Steps
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a low simmer and whisk in the Demi-Glace Gold® (or or Demi-Glace de Veau Gold®) until dissolved. Set aside.
In a large saucepan, heat the oil, add the garlic and onion, and cook until the vegetables are soft, about 2 minutes.
Add the demi-glace and the next seven ingredients, whisking to blend them together well, then bring the sauce to a simmer over low heat. Cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper.
Additional Tips
- The sauce is even better if you make it 2-3 days before you use it, so the flavors blend and develop. Store the sauce covered in the refrigerator.
