Tasty Taco mix has more flavor and less Salt than many of the dry mixes from the grocery store. Love it.
I tried this for the first time as an economical substitute for those spice envelopes at the grocery store and made a couple of observations. First - like another reviewer here I found this sauce pretty salty. That being said you can follow the recipe on the container for ground beef tacos. But for carne asada (sliced steak strips) or chicken tacos (made with half inch chicken meat cubes) you will want to scale it back and perhaps the water too. The smaller surface area of the bigger chunks of meat means you will taste more salt if you keep the recipe the same. I find that using 2/3 to 3/4 of what their recipe calls for meat chunks gives really good results.
The spice flavors were nice, but the overall salt level was overwhelming.
I love having this Taco Seasoning in my Fridge. I use it regularly to make a quick batch of tacos for the family and, when I have leftover chicken, I use it to make a quick taco salad. The flavor is great and tastes better than any powder taco seasoning I've had.
